In 2014, Wilsons fame exploded across the pond in a greater way by announcing her participation on Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart an unreliable young woman who has a past of dark that falls in love with the husband of her dreams, Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded the Golden Globe award for Best Actress In A Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson told British Vogue: "I love the fact that I am able to play characters from two angles." Noah sees Alison as this confident reckless sexually attractive version of her. However, she views herself in a totally different way which from the inside is dowdy and in the shadows and not wanting to stand out. Wilson added that she does believe America is so moralistic and judging that everything that takes place in the show is shocking. Wilson left the show which was a shock to fans. But, Wilson was very cryptic regarding the information. In an interview in August of 2018 with CBS This Morning, Wilson stated that she did wish to leave the show but wasn't allowed to explain why. Wilson is currently focusing her efforts on the film industry. Wilson was a part of the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing Who Lives in The House In 2016 before appearing in the sci-fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties in which she played the mysterious PT Stella. The list of films she has appeared in will soon include another horror film category. This British version of The Little Stranger is an supernatural thriller based upon the Sarah Waters novel. Wilson is also executive producing the movie.
